Disadvantages of Auto Bed Leveling

Some experts opposed to auto bed leveling of 3D printer argue that it increases the weight of the print head. Moreover, assembling this type of printer can be time-consuming and difficult. For instance, most printers have a mesh bed auto leveling mechanism that is dependent on induction sensors to measure the distance to the print head. Also, printer firmware can mask errors that make it leveling difficult.

Experienced machinists do not require auto bed leveling. That is because manual leveling of the bed offers you a better understanding of 3D printing, and it is what can make you become a pro. Although this feature is not necessary, it does save time and suitable for beginners. Therefore, when considering buying a 3D printer with this feature, you need to take into account your skill level.
